New Orleans,La is my home; I'm 51yrs Af
ro American female; mother of two and gr
andmother of one. I'm a Nurse by profes
sional status and owner of a homecare
business which is not in operation in New
Orleans,La because of the man made
destruction to the levees in New Orleans,
La.
My family and I were middle class Pre
Katrina in New Orleans,La now in 2007
we are below the federal proverty level.
We have been denied assistance to retu
rn to our city to restart our lives and to re
start our business.
We are been held in Houston,Texas; I'm
employed but since I have no means of
reliable transportation I must pay taxi fees
of 375 per wk to and from my places of
employment; my income denies me to re
cieve food stamps and we as a family has
no access to healthcare thank God that
we are not ill.
"MEANS to RECOVERY that is a joke I
was denied assistance in restarting my
Homecare Business here in Houston,Tx
Now the DHAP Housing Program that wi
ll begin in 12/2007 that is a disaster with
in a disaster; I have been informed by FE
MA that I must pay back the money( which
was not enough for what my family and I
had taken from us thur neglience on the
Army Core of Engineers behalf) that I and
my family was issued; My family and I were
forced to leave our home in New Orleans,
La on 09/04/2005 Sunday before Labor
Day by armed Military Personnel that told
my family and I if we refused to leave with
them they had orders to execute those
that refuse and leave them as a Hurricane
Katrina Casulty; also we were told that the
city of New Orleans,La had been declared
Marshall Law and the Federal government
was in control.
So here it is two yrs and we are still in
captivity with no means to return to our
home. Can someone tell me and my fam
ily why we are being given prison time
for surviving Hurricane Katrina?
